Ayurvedic Foot Massage
Ayurveda is the ancient health system of India, based on the concept of an inextricable connection between mind, body and spirit. The Ayurvedic tradition includes herbs, massage, diet and exercise and the belief that Prana (energy, life force) flows through channels in the body.
Ayurvedic Foot Massage involves stimulating these energy channels by massaging the feet with oils to balance and harmonise, physically, mentally and emotionally. The high quality therapeutic oils used in the massage may be either ghee (clarified butter), organic coconut oil or cold-pressed organic sesame oil, according to individual need. Pressure points (known as Marma points) on the feet and lower legs are massaged with the hands as well as the 3-metal Kansa Vatki bowl, unique to Ayurvedic Foot Massage. Attention is also given to the 7 chakras as reflected on the feet, to give a wonderfully uplifting treatment.
Ayurvedic Foot Massage may:
- Revitalise tired, aching feet
- Aid elimination of toxins from the body
- Stimulate circulation
- Help reduce stress
- Relieve pain
